"What will men do in the future?"

A model of the he-man is presented by Rambo as played
by Sylvester Stallone. We needed that get-tough image as
we revived from the downs of the Vietnam era. That image is
quite popular in many places around the world - including
Chechnya, Serbia, Africa... - actually, everywhere! An
interesting example is Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia,
Moslem provinces of Russia. Men watch violent movies but
absolutely have nothing to do with the "dirty" movies or the
sex scenes of the films they watch. Violence is okay but
sex is taboo.
One way of understanding what is going on in a lot of
places around the world is that the ideal image of a man is
somehow tough, masculine, mean, ready with a powerful
gun, etc. That message is more powerful than the morality
message.
So, in small countries that are blocked in, with a
foundering economy, pent-up frustrations, etc., what is a
man going to do? Recently we see cases like Rwanda,
Chechnya, and Serbia, where something happens and the
men find something war-like to do, and they can feel their
value.
The actions of NATO are going to show that that is
unacceptable. We may not have solutions to what people
can do with their energy, their time, their weapons -- but
killing is not one of the alternatives.
We are not really solving the problem but just drawing
the limits on what is acceptable and what is not.
Who will solve that problem? That's what our Family
Federation for World Peace, Women's Federation for
World Peace, and Youth Federation for World Peace are
proposing (trying, working hard!) to do.
In the future ideal world of peace, prosperity, and unity,
there must be active, challenging, exciting things for a man
to do besides blowing away others.
We have to get into the business of peace. A society
in peace should be more happy, prosperous, and interesting.
Peace should be more profitable than war. Peace should be
better business than war. But presently it is not.
Men can climb mountains, fly planes, fly rockets, go
hunting, do farming as a hobby, pursue science, love their
families, love their neighbors (in a clean, nice, constructive
way) and many other things.
We need to make the business of peace, the life of the
future ideal world, more attractive, more exciting, more
interesting, and more popular.
This issue will come up immediately at the end of the
Yugoslavian war. Because we now have it in our hands to
enforce peace around the world, and stop the bullies, tyrants,
etc. -- the lifelong desire of good people since the beginning
of history. But we better have a solution!
